How to estimate drywall

Drywall is estimated by area. Add up the square footage of every wall and ceiling to be covered, divide by 32 (the coverage of a standard 4x8 sheet), and add about 10% for cuts and waste. Round up to whole sheets — you can't buy a partial sheet.

Don't forget fasteners and finishing: roughly 35 screws per sheet, plus joint compound and tape for every seam. Set your sheet, screw and compound prices once in Settings and CraftTools prices the whole job, including hang-and-finish labor, into a professional quote.
