How Trowla works

From a quick material calculation to a branded client quote — here is the whole workflow, and why it saves contractors time on every job.

Three steps, start to finish

1
Calculate the materials

Pick your trade, enter the dimensions, and get accurate material quantities instantly — concrete by the cubic yard, drywall by the sheet, paint by the gallon, and so on. This part is free and works with no sign-up.

2
Add your prices and labor

Type in your material prices and your hourly labor rate — or save them once in Settings so every estimate reuses them. Trowla prices labor too, not just materials, so the total is the real cost of the job.

3
Send a client quote

Turn the estimate into a clean, printable quote with your logo, the customer's details, line items, tax and a signature line. Save it to a project so you can find it later or add more work to the same job.

What makes it different from a plain calculator

Your prices, not ours

Generic calculators use average prices that are never quite right. Here you set your own material prices and labor rate, so the number you show a client is the number you'd actually charge.

Materials and labor together

Most online tools only count materials and leave the biggest cost — your time — off the page. Trowla adds labor to every priced estimate so nothing gets under-bid.

Projects and customers

Estimates don't live in isolation. Group them under a project and a customer, then send one combined quote for the whole job instead of a stack of loose numbers.

Nothing to install, nothing to lose

It runs in your browser and stores your data on your own device. No account, no subscription, no software to keep updated — open it and start bidding.

A typical job

Say you're quoting a concrete driveway.

You open the driveway calculator, enter the length, width and thickness, and get the cubic yards of concrete you need plus the recommended waste allowance. You add your price per yard and your crew's labor rate, and Trowla shows the material cost, the labor cost and the full job total. You attach the customer, save it to a project, and print a branded quote to hand over or email. The next time that customer calls, the project and their details are already there — you just add the new work.

Questions

Do I need to create an account?

No. Every calculator, estimate and quote works with no sign-up. Your prices, projects and customers are saved locally in your browser so you can pick up where you left off.

Are the calculators really free?

Yes — the material calculators and the full estimating workflow (labor, projects, customers, printable quotes) are free to use. There is nothing to install.

Where is my data stored?

On your own device, in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so your pricebook and customer list stay private to you. Clearing your browser data will remove them, so export or print anything you want to keep.

How do I add my own prices?

Open Settings and enter your material prices and labor rate once. Every estimate you build then uses your numbers instead of generic defaults, so the job total reflects your real costs.

Can I send a quote to a client?

Yes. Any estimate can be turned into a branded, printable quote with your company details, the customer, line items, tax and a signature line. Group several estimates under one project to send a single combined quote.
